Job description:
  • Design and develop high-performance Java backend services for mission-critical financial applications
  • Build scalable and resilient solutions using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
  • Work with distributed systems, microservices, messaging, and event-driven architectures
  • Integrate internal platforms and third-party services while ensuring performance, reliability, and data integrity
  • Contribute to code quality, testing, CI/CD, and production stability
  • Collaborate with international teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
About the customer:

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer / Distributed Systems Engineer to join a highly professional technology team within a leading financial services environment in Zurich.

The position is suited to a hands-on senior engineer who is comfortable taking end-to-end ownership of complex backend systems — from architecture and development through deployment, production support, performance optimisation, and continuous improvement.

Assignement Details:

Workload: 100%

Start: ASAP

Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension

Location: Zurich with up to two day homeoffice

Requirements:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
  • Good understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience with JPA, JDBC, relational databases, and messaging technologies such as JMS
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and cloud environments, preferably Azure
  • Comfortable working with Unix/Linux and modern software engineering practices
  • Knowledge of OAuth2 and API security concepts
  • Strong ownership mindset with a focus on quality, performance, and reliability
  • Fluent English and comfortable working in international teams
  • Previous experience in financial services is considered a plus
