Operating within a strictly regulated GxP/GMP environment, the position serves as the central operational link between internal supply chain functions, procurement, and external manufacturing partners.

The core focus encompasses end-to-end CMO project execution—from initial onboarding, RFPs, and SOW contracting to budget ownership, SAP order processing, and active S&OP representation. The goal is to ensure reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective clinical supply delivery to meet global trial timelines.

  • Project & Delivery Oversight: Proactively manage CMO project onboarding, communications, timelines, and delivery performance for outsourced clinical packaging orders to meet supply chain needs while adhering to cost and quality standards.
  • Procurement & Contracting: Partner with Procurement and key stakeholders to drive Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Statements of Work (SOWs), negotiate supply agreements, and select vendors.
  • Strategy & Budgeting: Support leadership in defining supply strategies for non-standard supply chains. Own the budgeting process and submission for CMO project variable costs.
  • Process Ownership & Governance: Establish team scope and division of responsibilities with upstream functions (e.g., device CMO team). Define, track, and report CMO team KPIs.
  • S&OP Representation: Actively drive network supply outcomes and represent the CMO function in the CD&OP process.
  • Managing operational orders, and master data in SAP
  • Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Lead SRM activities and partner with CMOs to ensure long-term capability and capacity for predictable delivery.
  • Financial & Order Execution: Create and maintain Purchase Orders in the purchasing system, review/approve CMO invoices, and execute pre- and post-production order management in the ERP system.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and champion process improvement opportunities, applying technical expertise to resolve complex supply chain issues. Serve as an SME/primary contact for key strategic initiatives.

Must Haves:

  • Degree: BA/BS degree, preferably in a technical, business, or supply chain discipline. Master’s degree is a plus
  • Work Experience: 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, supply chain management, or manufacturing.
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong preference for experience in clinical drug manufacturing, clinical supply chain, or contract manufacturing management.
  • GMP Experience: Required.
  • IT / Tool Skills: Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
  • Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English (required); basic German skills are beneficial.
  • Shift Flexibility: Flexibility to adapt to global working hours (e.g., starting as early as 7:00 AM for SSF teams or working until 6:00 PM for Switzerland-based teams).
  • Solid understanding of pharma supply chains, contract manufacturing, and clinical operations.
  • Proven project planning, project management, and resource management skills.
  • Strong leadership experience in taking projects from initiation through final delivery.
  • High cultural awareness and social competence for global stakeholder management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and system-oriented skills with high attention to detail.
  • High integrity and the ability to operate independently with minimal direction.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and presentation skills.
