Swiss General Ledger Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Swiss General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for Swiss legal entities, ensuring compliance with Swiss statutory requirements and corporate accounting policies. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process, financial reporting, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting activities for Swiss legal entities.
- Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities in accordance with corporate timelines.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and other GL adjustments.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records in compliance with Swiss statutory requirements and company accounting policies.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports under Swiss Code of Obligations (Swiss CO), Swiss GAAP FER, IFRS, or US GAAP, as applicable.
- Support statutory audits by preparing audit schedules and liaising with internal and external auditors.Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, and other finance teams to ensure smooth financial operations.Assist with VAT reporting and other regulatory compliance requirements for Switzerland.
- Participate in finance transformation initiatives, ERP enhancements, and process improvement projects.Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with SOX and company policies where applicable.
Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or completion of a relevant accounting apprenticeship.
- A professional accounting qualification—such as ACCA, CPA, Swiss Certified Specialist in Finance and Accounting, or equivalent—is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in General Ledger Accounting or Financial Accounting.
- Hands-on experience managing accounting for Swiss legal entities is highly preferred.
- Experience in a multinational company, Shared Service Center (SSC), or Big Four accounting firm is an advantage.
- Experience with month-end close and statutory reporting.
Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of Swiss Code of Obligations (Swiss CO), Swiss GAAP FER, IFRS, or US GAAP.
- Knowledge of Swiss VAT regulations and statutory compliance is preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Workday.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
