Industriel Software Engineer
Job Opening: Industrial Software Engineer
Location: Switzerland/Geneva (On-site)
Company: SolidWatts SA – Redefining Solid State RF for Global Industry 4.0
About Us
We are a high-growth Swiss startup revolutionizing the Solid State RF landscape. By replacing traditional vacuum tubes and bulky magnetrons with high-efficiency, semiconductor-based RF solutions, we empower machine builders in sectors ranging from welding to industrial drying and medical/chemical industry.
The Role
At SolidWatts, we are looking for a young passionate Industrial Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain our high-quality digital solutions that support, surround and drive our innovative energy systems. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to the full software development lifecycle, and help drive performance, scalability, and reliability across our platforms. Ideal candidates are proactive problem-solvers with a strong technical foundation and a keen interest in sustainable technologies.
Responsibilities
- Embedded software development: C / C++ / Python
- Hardware Security: Implement AI-driven monitoring to protect the hardware from tampering.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Developer colleague, the CTO and RF Engineers to translate complex physical requirements into efficient hardware logic.
- Validation: Use lab equipment to verify firmware performance in a high-power RF environment.
Your Profile
- Solid understanding of secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities, with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate security risks throughout the development lifecycle.
- Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and data protection mechanisms (e.g., encryption, secure APIs), as well as conducting code reviews and security testing to ensure robust and compliant software systems.
- AI Interest: Hands-on experience or a strong theoretical background in deploying Neural Networks on hardware.
- Startup Mindset: You are proactive, comfortable with ambiguity, and ready to take full ownership of your code.
- Languages: English (fluent); French or German is a plus given our Swiss location.
KPIs for Success (Review Criteria)
- Delivery reliability: Percentage of features delivered on time and meeting agreed quality standards across sprints or release cycles.
- Code quality and maintainability: Measured through code review feedback, test coverage, and reduction in post-release defects.
- System performance and stability: Improvements in application performance, uptime, and scalability, along with a decrease in production issues over time.
- Documentation: High-quality technical documentation for internal scaling and IP protection.
Why Join Us?
- Innovation: Work on the cutting edge of GaN/SiC Solid State RF technology.
- Workplace: Geneva or Nyon office and/or remote.
- Impact: Your code will run in industrial machines used by global leaders across various continents.
- Swiss Quality: A competitive salary package, flexible working hours, and the stability of the Swiss tech ecosystem combined with startup agility.
- Equity: Participation in our ESOP (Employee Stock Option Plan).
Are you ready to build the future of intelligent RF at high power output?
Apply now with your CV and provide the solution to the following problems in no more than in an A4 page:
- How would you ensure the integrity of the calibration values and secrets across deployed embedded systems over years of operation?
- Critically discuss the difference and similarity between clock synchronisation and phase synchronisation. Describe an example algorithm where you synchronise the clock and the phase in a distributed system.
Hint: Be smart, don’t use AI.
